i love this. it's yet another example of how "fiction" (or specifically science fiction) helps inspire people (scientists) to invent new and potentially lifesaving stuff. Also, i love True Blood -- mostly Erik :)

3. What would it take to get the average schmuck to donate?
I think there will be people insisting on real, human blood when needed for a looong time to come. GMO foods, bioengineering, digital vs. old school printed books, clones vs. original beings, etc. It's all about "tradition", how far the mind can stretch.
ReplyDeleteBlood is perhaps the most iconic symbol of life, but no matter how "against" artificial blood a person might be, I don't think anyone would rather die prematurely than have some lab blood in their veins.
Would you accept lab blood?
