Nightmare

This wood engraving from J Cazotte's 1845 book, Le Diable Amoureux, entitled "The Nightmare".

"Mare" was the Old English word for  "succubus".  That's the demon that descends at night, landing on peoples' chests, suffocating them and causing bad dreams.

This is one of the facts told in BRITTLE, my Urban Fantasy available for purchase soon. Preview the first 5 chapters here . Keep watching this blog, or my author site , for details.

petition - internet censorship bill

The US government is back at at it. Individuals (political, corporate, or otherwise) will have the power to arbitrarily block access to internet sites. "Arbitrary" in the same fabricated, on-demand sense as the WBush administration's justification for war in Iraq. (A similar internet censorship bill was killed by petitions last year before it reached the floor). Click here to sign a petition. More info there, too.

I'm still here.

This pic is just weird -- a little disturbing, with a nice touch of cuteness and some demonic element. Animals with human heads, or humanized qualities, were a favorite way to picture the work of the devil. Or if you go further back, just plain supernatural. Shamans' helpers were animals or insects of all kinds, psychopomps delivering them (the shamans) into the realms beyond the physical.

- a group of squirrels is called a "dray". (as in "a flock")
- squirrels are associated with Fire and the East
- in Norse mythology a red squirrel lives in the World Tree. He is a messenger carrying people's words and thoughts between the realms
- in Native American traditions, the squirrel symbolizes trust
- if you see a squirrel on Valentines' Day, you will marry a cheapskate who will hoard all your money (hahaha)

sin

SIN...all good Christians/Jews/Muslims know about Moses receiving the ten commandments on Mt Sinai from the hand of God, yeah? "Sinai" is the "Mountain of the Moon", "Sin" being the Moon God. Sin ruled the land of Sinim (Isaiah 49:12), which meant "land of the lunar mountain". His Chaldean name was Kingu, and Kingu received the Tablets of Law from the primal Mother of Creation, Tiamat. Christianity (like many other religions) simply appropriated existing beliefs -- by word or sword (holy swords, of course). When Kingu became Moses' God, he kept the same mountain throne and the same tablets.

Stick with me here. Everyone knows Jesus was a Jew. Judaism was born of Islam. Abraham is the common denominator, that's why we speak of "the Abrahamic faiths" (Judaism, Christianity, Islam). Now, the god Moses met on Mount Sinai claimed to be the god of Abraham, though he said **Abraham knew him by a different name** (Exodus 6:3). Perhaps this name was....Kingu, or Sin.

Gonna continue this post, cause what's contained in the Ka'Bah is very interesting and relates to this. (The Ka'bah is the black box in the middle of Mecca, the one thing that 1.5 BILLION muslims face and pray fervently to FIVE TIMES a day. That's a hell of a lot of attention. INtention.)

Eve - continued from "soul", 10/18

We all know Eve from the Bible, the "Mother of All Living". In India her title (long before Christian scriptures appeared) was Jiva or Ieva, the Creatress of all manifested forms. After Jesus' crucifixion, one of the earliest groups of Christians were the Gnostics, from the word "gnosis", or "knowledge". A direct knowledge of the Christ spirit. Interesting that basically none of what the first Christians believed made it through the filter of Church Fathers, the Papacy, Rome, or the other near countless dilutions of spiritual truth.

Gnostic scriptures said Adam was created by the power of Eve's word, not God's. She said, "Adam, live! Rise up upon the earth!" As soon as she spoke the word, her word became reality. Adam rose up and opened his eyes. "When he saw her, he said, 'You will be called "the mother of the living," because you are the one who gave me life'." - translation from The Gnostic Gospels by Elaine Pagels, Random House 1979
